![]() On my evening, I purposefully selected items I hadn’t tried before. The staff are well trained, attentive and personable. Speaking about the bar, I started off with an old fashioned bourbon - The Old Boys. There is a delicate balance of preparing amazing meals coming out of the kitchen and also from the bar. On my latest visit, I could see owners, Chef Mike, Brittany and with the watchful eye of their amazing GM, David, understand what hospitality is all about. Upon entering Ember& Iron - I’m reminded on how stunning and delightful the bar area is - not to mention the gorgeous elegant dining room. In my case, I decided to visit it for the fourth time before submitting my write up. the splurge for a special evening or dinner for one. They keep doing it right! All in all we probably won't be back because the experience was lackluster. The manager was nice enough to check on us but in his defense I didn't mention the seating or birthday thing because it may seem petty to some. I'm usually all about dessert but since I was put off I decided not to. They were definitely the highlight of my meal. The crab cakes were full of meat and very tasty. He didn't care as he doesn't care to eat them but I did! I got crabs cakes and a beet salad. His vegetables were undercooked and overly crunchy. He said the potatoes it came with were very good. Had to add pepper and salt which says a lot for me because I never add salt to any of my food! My husband had the Chimichurri steak, a little undercooked but he said it was good. Even just a "I hope you enjoyed your birthday" or any recognition would have been appreciated. Our waitress was attentive but never mentioned my birthday. I did not like mine, husband drank it for me. We were a bit turned off expecting a reservation table to be a booth or half booth more secluded table, especially since the restaurant was pretty empty. (It was definitely poppin when we were leaving though) We were greeted with no mention of the occasion and sat at a table in the middle of the floor space close to two other seated tables. My husband made reservations for my birthday. The food is a little pricier but we don’t mind paying for good food. This is by far one of our favorites! Definitely our best meal since being back in America (moved back 15 months ago). We’ve traveled the world and eaten at many places. No skimping on the alcohol!! The s’more dessert was good too. The vegetable were delicious!! Highly recommend the hibiscus margarita!! Best margarita I’ve ever had. Both steak meals were cooked to perfection. My son loved the two sides (Mac and cheese and the grits). The bakes casserecce was the least favorite but not bad by any means. We had chimichurri steak, bistro steak and fries, roast buttermilk chicken and the baked casserecce. We didn’t order appetizers but our meals were delicious. It was nearly empty at 4:45 when we arrived but by the time we left, there was a wait. We made reservations for a Saturday not knowing what to expect. Excellent all around!! Our family of four went and were very pleased.
