Previously, North Carolina's franchise tax was levied on the largest of three bases: (1) a corporation's North Carolina apportioned net worth (2) 55% of the appraised value of all a corporation's real and tangible personal property in North Carolina or (3) a corporation's total investment in tangible property in North Carolina.
